For those "In the Know" Donovan Middle School really is the BEST. We have a huge orchestra program (bigger even than the High School) and the students are highly motivated and inquisitive.
As for me:
- I started here in 1996.
- I am married and have 4 children, a dog, 7 Basses, 1 viola, 4 violins, a drum set, various percussion "stuff" and a grand piano.
- I make a mean tomato sauce.
- I love playing and practicing music anytime/anywhere. I've performed in Canada, New York City, Chicago and throughout New York State.
- I love all kinds of music but especially Funk, Rock, Classical, Jazz and Modern Country. Picking favorites is hard, but here is how I feel today.
- Favorite musicians are: Jaco, Yo-Yo Ma, Gary Karr, Ludwig Streicher, Nadia Salerno-Sorrenburg, Vladmir Horowitz. Favorite music groups are: Weather Report, Earth Wind and Fire, Led Zepplin, Rush, Grand Funk and Yes.
- Favorite Movies: Shawshank Redemption, A Walk to Remember, All the Star Wars (old and new), Casino, Goodfellas, Godfather (all of them) and all the Back to the Futures and Frequency. Love to watch reruns of Seinfeld (never can get enough of that show-any episode seems to work for me).
- I love seafood (especially shrimp and lobster), and enjoy Italian food (especially lasagna).
- I play golf (badly), was once a Balck Belt in Karate (too out of shape right now).
- I enjoy some sports; mostly football, basketball and baseball but really don't play anymore.
- I'm good in math and enjoy learning more about history and am fascinated with astronomy and the concept of time and the universe.
- I like things to be orderly, but wish someone else would keep them that way for me.
- I constantly fight off my tendency to procrastinate.
- I own a piano business, Stage Music Piano Company and have tuned pianos since 1978. Some of the clients I've worked for have played piano all over the world. They include Midori, Emanual Ax, Mistislav Rostropovich (who played on the floor with my son John), Gunther Schuller, Peter Tork, Peter Gabriel, Trey Anastasio and a few others. Most of them were pretty cool people and Emanual Ax is an avid football fan!
